Join our concise yet immersive Mongolian journey, blending cultural discovery with two of the country’s most striking landscapes. Begin in Ulaanbaatar and Kharkhorin, Genghis Khan’s ancient capital, before saddle-up for six days of riding—covering roughly 20 miles each day—through Arkhangai’s forested valleys, rivers, and mountains. Along the way, visit nomadic families in their gers while our support truck moves ahead to your next campsite.

Itinerary

Day 1 (7/10)

Welcome to Ulaanbaatar

Your guide and driver will warmly welcome you at the airport. Ulaanbaatar (UB), Mongolia’s vibrant capital seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, showcasing sleek contemporary architecture alongside ancient monasteries and traditional gers. Your centrally located hotel offers easy access to Sukhbaatar Square, museums, and local shops, all within walking distance. After settling in, embark on a concise city orientation tour to immerse yourself in UB’s distinctive charm before enjoying dinner. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 (7/11)

Naadam Festival – A Celebration of Mongolian Spirit

Immerse yourself in Mongolia’s most iconic cultural event—the Naadam Festival—a thrilling showcase of tradition, strength, and national pride. Witness the raw power and elegance of bökh (traditional wrestling), the precision of archery, and the deep-rooted symbolism behind each competition. Mongolian archers, famed for their composite bows and unmatched accuracy, once played a pivotal role in the rise of Chinggis Khan’s empire.

In the afternoon, venture out to the vast steppe of Khui Doloon Khudag, where the legendary long-distance horse races unfold. Watch in awe as young jockeys—some just seven years old—gallop across the open plains, embodying the nomadic spirit that defines Mongolia.

Overnight in ger camp (near Moltsog Els).

Day 3 (7/12)

Drive to Tsetserleg via Harhorin

Begin our journey in Harhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire, nestled 400 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar. Once the heart of Chinggis Khan’s vast dominion, Harhorin is now the focus of renewed efforts to reclaim its historical role as Mongolia’s capital. Wander through the beautifully restored Erdene Zuu Monastery, originally built in 1586—the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia—where centuries of spiritual and architectural heritage await.

After lunch continuing westward to Tsetserleg, the charming capital of Arkhangai province of vast steppes with lush forests, winding rivers, and majestic mountains.

Arrive at your camp nestled in the serene valley of the Ikh Tamir River, where the rhythm of nomadic life still pulses.

Meet local wranglers and their horses—your gateway to Mongolia’s equestrian soul.

Day 12 (7/21)

Discover Ulaanbaatar: A Capital Rich in History and Heart

Begin your final full day in Mongolia with a hearty breakfast buffet at your hotel—fueling up for a deep dive into the vibrant soul of Ulaanbaatar. Your guided exploration starts at the Zaisan Memorial, a striking Soviet-era monument perched atop Bogd Khan Mountain, where panoramic views stretch across the city’s evolving skyline and the surrounding wilderness.

From there, descend into the heart of the capital to Sukhbaatar Square, a grand public space named after the revolutionary hero of 1921. Here, the pulse of modern Mongolia beats alongside its storied past, framed by imposing government buildings and the iconic statue of Damdin Sukhbaatar himself.

Continue your journey through time at the Museum of National History, where immersive exhibits trace Mongolia’s epic narrative—from the rise of the great khans and the power of the Mongol Empire to the enduring traditions of nomadic life and artistic expression.

As evening falls, return to your hotel and unwind in the comfort of modern amenities, reflecting on the rich tapestry of experiences that have shaped your journey. Tomorrow may bring departure, but tonight is for savoring the final notes of adventure.
