Join our concise yet immersive Mongolian journey, blending cultural discovery with two of the country’s most striking landscapes. Begin in Ulaanbaatar and Kharkhorin, Genghis Khan’s ancient capital, before saddle-up for six days of riding—covering roughly 20 miles each day—through Arkhangai’s forested valleys, rivers, and mountains. Along the way, visit nomadic families in their gers while our support truck moves ahead to your next campsite.

Day 3

Drive to Tsetserleg and Begin Horseback Trek

Set out for Tsetserleg, the charming capital of Arkhangai Province in west-central Mongolia. Often referred to as the “Switzerland of Mongolia,” Arkhangai captivates with its alpine landscapes—lush forests, winding rivers, and majestic mountains.
After lunch, continue to the serene valley of the Ikh Tamir River, where you’ll meet your horses and wranglers to begin the horseback expedition. Each day covers approximately 20 miles, with the support vehicle transporting your personal gear and all the essentials for comfortable “catered camping.” This allows for light, swift travel across the steppe.
Camp each night in spacious three-person tents, soaking in the quiet beauty of the Mongolian wilderness. Along the way, visit the gers of local herding families for an authentic glimpse into nomadic life on the Central Asian steppe.

All camping equipment, provisions, and personal gear are transported by a support vehicle, ensuring a comfortable ride. Your horses are cared for by skilled local wranglers who guide you through this pristine landscape.

Each day brings new encounters with nomadic families and a chance to savor traditional summer delicacies—fresh yogurt, handmade cheeses, and the famous airag (fermented mare’s milk), a true taste of Mongolian hospitality.

After long days in the saddle, unwind at cozy campsites with spacious three-person tents, and if you need a break from riding, the support vehicle is always available.
