The Full Circle:
An Iron Horse Odyssey with Thermal Recovery
Once, the Mongol Empire was built on horseback. Today, the steppe also belongs to the Iron Horse—the modern vehicle of the nomadic people. In a landscape without fences or private property signs, the motorcycle is another equestrian, providing true freedom of nomadic mobility.
This allows us to meet the other nomads on horses, meet their families, and see their daily nomadic life firsthand. We ride across the primary Mongolian landforms: desert, steppe, forests, mountains, and river crossings.
This expedition is a balanced blend of adventure, safety, and comfort. It is the Full Circle.
Expedition Infrastructure
This is a full-support expedition. The logistical backbone and the complexities of the interior are handled by our local crew—bilingual guides, translators, mechanics, and a chef—leaving us free to focus only on the ride.
Our support truck is a mobile basecamp. It carries the kitchen, food, camping gear, and all luggage.
Your Ride: Motorcycle & Mechanics
We utilize a primary fleet of CFMoto 450MT adventure bikes, the new workhorse of the steppe. In the Mongolian interior, one important rule dictates our choice: Weight is the enemy. While heavy adventure bikes are impressive on tarmac, they are a liability in the deep sand, mud, and river crossings of the backcountry.

The 450MT provides the tactical balance required for this terrain: light enough to manhandle through soft sand, yet stable enough for high-speed steppe transits. To ensure your Iron Horse handles the daily legs without compromise, every machine is brand-new or late-model and is vetted and tuned daily by our lead mechanic.
The Riding Season: When to Go
The window for a motorcycle expedition in Mongolia runs from May to September. This is the season when sunlight is at its longest, providing ample time for the ride and other activities. It is also the only time the interior is fully passable, and the high-altitude passes are snow-free.
All summer months are good. Although the temperature can be high, it remains pleasant due to the low humidity. The air feels fresh and easy to breathe, even during the peak of the day.
- June: Maximum daylight. The longest hours available for covering distance.
- July: Nomadic culture is at its peak with Naadam festivals happening in remote outposts.
- August: Stable temperatures across the steppe, though be prepared for occasional summer rains. Late August is a popular wedding season, ideal for those interested in authentic cultural activities.
- September: Fewer crowds as the local school season begins. The wedding season continues, and while it turns chilly at night, proper attire makes it a non-issue.
